Fireproofing selection is crucial because reliable fire resistance is a must.

Southwest Fireproofing Products are spray-applied cementitious fireproofing materials and accessory products for use with our fireproofing. They have a base of gypsum or Portland cement with the necessary aggregates, fillers and additives factory blended to assure proper composition.

Only water is added on the job. Therefore, the proper composition is also assured in the applied products. Setting and curing after spray-application as a wet slurry creates the durable monolithic coating of well adhered fireproofing.

The optimized formulations and extensive testing of our products in combination with the wet slurry application process produces many beneficial properties.

Fireproofing Selection Criteria

Product Selection Based on Service Conditions

Architectural and Fireproofing standard practice classifies spray-applied fire resistive materials into three groups according to installed density.  This method of classification is based on the fact that, in general, higher density materials will withstand more physically demanding service conditions.

Southwest Fireproofing Products are offered in each of the three density ranges corresponding to the three levels of potential physical damage.

However, consideration of fireproofing environmental exposure and proximity to occupants is also required. This is to assure that products are selected that not only have the correct density, but have other attributes required for long term service after installation.

Our Product Selection Chart matches Southwest Fireproofing Products to the various service conditions that result from considering all of these factors.

This functional approach to product selection produces the most cost effective fireproofing choices. Construction costs are limited by avoiding over specification. Likewise, operating expenses to repair or replace damaged material are minimized by avoiding under specification.
